Replies to ff. E. the Governor's questions.

1. P. C. 5 Godfrey was on duty at the Court and was engaged to

look after a prisoner when the priacnera were removed from the Magistracty

Dock to the Police Cell.

2. P. C. 5 Godfrey had the Magistracy Cell key in his pocket.

3. It was the duty of P. C. 5 Godfrey. This constable is

employed at the N gistrasy for this purpose.

4. No Police Official.

5. Each constable removed his own prisoner from the Dock to the

Police Cell. There were ó constables and 6 pris ners.

6. No order as given. The Magistrate notified that the Court

was adjourned till 2.16 p.m. The prisoners were then removed by those in sharge of them, viz P. CA 845, 369, 240, 152, 380

and D. W. 60.

7. The Police cells are in charge of the Inspector on duty for

the day. A European eunstable in the Charge room on duty sats

as gaoler.

8. I. was the duty of P. c. 121 to hand over the priacpersto

the Court constable by authority from the Inspector on duty.

9. The Inspector was not absent. The Inspecter returned to

Court at 2.18.

10. No one.

11. The cell was unlooked by request of P. CÃ 885, 369 and D. W.

60. The I. P. C. mated as spokeEMEN.

12. The prisoners were handed over to the above P. Cs.

13. P. C. 121 had no dder from the Inspector on duty.

14. No time was stated. The constables had the a' der from the

Court *adjourned till 2.16 p.m.*, their prisoners should be in

attendance at that time.

10. P. C. 5 Godfrey is the constable in charge of the ascert of

f prisoners from Central/Station to the Magistracy and thán
